<p>Climate change is real, and we as a nation need to acknowledge our outsized role in contributing to global warming and its catastrophic effects on our planet. I will fight to get the US back into the <span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);"><strong style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);">Paris Accords</strong></span> - and here at home will <span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);"><strong style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);">resist any effort</strong></span> to halt the transition away from non-renewable energy resources like <span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);"><strong style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);">fossil fuels.</strong></span></p>

<p>Today, Doug Chapin, a nationally recognized expert on democracy and elections, announced his candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives to represent Minnesota’s 6th Congressional District.</p>

<p>The White House's "BIG" budget bill also slashed funding to social services and imposed strict rules (like work requirements). I will fight to <span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);"><strong style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);">reverse Medicare and Medicaid cuts</strong></span> - and not just restore the lost funding but ensure that these programs are fully funded in order to keep the promises we have made to one another as Americans.</p>

<p>The Boundary Waters are nothing less than sacred. We do not need or want them to be exploited for mining or other purposes - and certainly not when it benefits foreign companies and foreign markets. <br>I will be a NO on any proposal to remove protections for the BWCA.<br></p>

<p>The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has done massive damage to modern medicine with its bizarre policies along with devastating cuts to research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). <span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);"><strong style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);">I will fight to impeach HHS Secretary RFK, Jr.</strong></span>, clean house of anti-vax and anti-science officials, and revive America's long tradition of leading the world in medical research and innovation.</p>

<p>This country cannot be free if all people aren't free to <span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);"><strong style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);">be </strong></span>who they are, <span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);"><strong style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);">love </strong></span>who they love, or <span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);"><strong style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);">marry</strong><strong> </strong></span>and start a family <span style="color: var(--color-text); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text);">without government interference</span>. Congress should "<span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);"><strong style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);">mind its own damn business</strong></span>."</p>

<p><span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);"><strong style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);">The federal invasion of Minnesota is an outrage.</strong></span> The reign of terror - and literally, death - must stop NOW. I support efforts to <span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);"><strong style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);">withhold ICE funding</strong></span>, even if it means a shutdown, to force ICE out Minnesota - and in Congress will seek to <span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);"><strong style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);">dismantle ICE</strong></span> so this never happens again.</p>

<p>Reproductive health care decisions are purely a matter between a woman and her medical providers.<span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);"> <strong style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);">I support full reproductive rights.</strong></span></p>

<p>Minnesota has a long tradition of <span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);"><strong style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);">responsible gun ownership</strong></span> by citizens who purchase and lawfully carry them for hunting or self-protection - and I will defend that right. <br><br>But assault-style weapons are different; they are <span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);"><strong style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);">mass killing machines</strong></span> - and I will fight to keep them off of our streets.</p>

<h2>Guns and the 2nd Amendment</h2>

<p>We cannot continue with a health care system that is controlled by for-profit insurance companies instead of patients and providers. I will fight for <span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);"><strong style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);">new policies like "Medicare for All" or a public option</strong></span> so that people can get the care they need without fear of going broke.</p>

<p>Many Americans don't know that the taxes they pay into Social Security ("FICA" on your pay stub) are capped at incomes over $184,500. I will fight<span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);"> <strong style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);">to eliminate the cap on Social Security taxes</strong></span> in order to ensure that wealthy taxpayers are fully contributing to cost of Americans' retirement.</p>

<p>The United States and Israel have a <span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);"><strong style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);">longstanding relationship</strong></span> dating back to 1947 - but the current Israeli government is completely <span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);"><strong style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);">out of control</strong></span> and is engaged in what can only be described as a <span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);"><strong style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);">genocide </strong></span>against the Palestinian people. I support <span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);"><strong style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);">withholding or restricting aid </strong></span>to Israel until it ends its war of terror in Gaza.</p>

I will fight for <span style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);"><strong style="color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary); text-decoration-color: var(--color-text-accent-secondary);">common-sense reform that works for immigrants and employers alike</strong></span> and reduces the time, cost and red tape associated with becoming an American.</p>
